The
Rape Crisis Intervention Center (RCIC) of Middlesex County’s mission
is to provide a comprehensive rape care program, which utilizes
both professional staff and volunteer advocates to provide quality
health and supportive care to victims of sexual violence. Since
1977, the RCIC has been providing free, confidential services to
victim of sexual violence and their families.
Services
provided by the RCIC:

Crisis
Intervention, information and referral via a 24-Hour Hotline.

Forensic
evidence collection performed in a private, non-hospital based
setting within 5 days of a sexual assault, available 24 hours,
during which support, referral and advocacy are provided by trained
volunteer advocates and/or staff.

Individual
counseling (available to victims and significant others).

Accompaniment
to legal proceedings.

Advocacy
with the legal system and community agencies.

Community
presentations on sexual assault and other types of sexual violence.

Library
with information and reflective materials on topics of sexual
violence.

50-Hour
Volunteer Advocate Training. At the conclusion of the training, volunteers
will answer the 24-Hour Hotline and support victims at forensic examination
and legal procedures.
