The
New Jersey Coalition Against Sexual Assault (NJCASA)
is the state-wide coalition of sexual violence programs.
Our mission is to promote the compassionate and just
treatment of survivors, their loved ones and significant
others, foster collaborative relationships between
community systems, and affect attitudinal and behavioral
changes in society as we work toward the elimination
of sexual violence against all people.
NJCASA
is seeking a full-time Prevention Education Coordinator
to manage primary prevention efforts in concert with
job description.
General
Duties:

Oversee
Primary Prevention of sexual violence plan for
NJCASA
-
Research
and disseminate best practices tools and materials
for prevention

Develop
Sexual Violence Curricula for professionals, community
groups, and sexual violence programs

Create,
deliver and/or evaluate culturally competent trainings
and materials for professionals, community groups,
and others concerning sexual violence

Develop
culturally competent resource materials and training
for NJCASA and Sexual Violence Program Members
-
Coordinate
NJCASA bi-annual prevention education conference
-
Develop
evaluation tools to track the success of prevention
and awareness efforts

Oversee
publication of the NJCASA newsletter

Oversee
and provide staff support to Prevention Committee
of the Sexual Violence Program Members

Collaborate
with the Director of Development to develop public
relations/awareness campaign for NJCASA

Collaborate
with Program Development Coordinator as appropriate
to develop prevention trainings in the Training
Institute

Attend
monthly Sexual Violence Program Member meetings

Participate
on statewide PPEC

Participates
in NJCASA staff meetings, strategic planning and
other meetings as appropriate and necessary

Participates
in other committees as assigned

Represents
NJCASA at public events as necessary

Maintains
appropriate levels of professional expertise and
participates in ongoing professional development

Work
Experience Requirements:
- 1-2
years successful training experience
- Experience
with community mobilization and/or collaboration,
a plus
- Ability
to communicate NJCASA's mission and purpose
- Knowledge
of sexual assault issues and violence against women
in general
- Excellent
written, oral and organizational skills
- Curricula
development experience
- Self-starter
who is able to work both independently and with
a team
- Design
experience such as Adobe Indesign or Adobe Illustrator
is a plus
- Ability
to work in diverse environments
- Available
to work some nights and/or weekends

Mercer County, providing an array of programs to victims

Development and Marketing Associate - Full Time
Assist the Director of Development in key development
and public relations areas. Includes data entry, web-design

2)
Communications & Grant Writer - Part Time, 15-20 hrs
per wk
Plans, organizes and manages grant activity and the agency

annual "master list" of grant applications pending
and results. Researches available opportunities and reaches

Manages cases and advocates for clients of all ages. Provides
individual and group counseling, crisis intervention,

at other social service agencies, such as Homefront. Networks

Union
County Rape Crisis Center
DEFINITION:
Under
direction, performs office and field work involved in
assisting survivors of sexual assault with coping and
healing through the effects of sexual trauma and educates
the community on sexual assault; does related work as
required. This is a part-time position.
EXAMPLES OF WORK:
Conduct
intakes, perform assessments, and provide face to face
short and long term counseling for primary and secondary
survivors of sexual trauma on an individual and/or group
basis.
Provide
crisis intervention in person and on a 24 hour telephone
hotline to survivors of sexual assault.
Accompany
victims through medical and legal proceedings, if requested.
Consult
with other disciplines also working with survivors (law
enforcement, social services, hospital/medical) to ensure
comprehensive and coordinated service delivery.
Develop
and maintain clinical case records, as well as relevant
correspondence in working with other disciplines.
Make
referrals to therapeutic, legal, medical, educational,
and other social services as necessary.
May
serve as consultant to rape care advocates at the Union
County Rape Crisis Center regarding hotline calls or go-outs
as requested.
Will
provide emergency coverage for hotline as requested.
Keep
abreast of current literature, developments, and trends
in the fields of sexual assault, counseling, and crisis
intervention.
May
assist in training volunteers in various topics pertaining
to sexual assault.

REQUIRED CREDENTIALS:
Masters

Position
Title: Part-Time Weekend & Holiday Caseworker/Hotline
Worker
Reports
To: Shelter Director
Job
Description: Responsible for answering the hotline
and providing appropriate intervention and referral. Maintains
a specific caseload as directed by her supervisor. Provides
outstanding direct services to shelter residents and former
shelter residents. Ensures that all shelter rules are
followed and participates in the maintenance of the physical
structure of the shelter.
Duties:
Supervisory
This
is a non-supervisory position.
Administration
1. Attend all staff meetings and monthly shelter team
meetings.
2. Review shelter donations when requested to do so.
3. Maintain shelter client files according to agency standards.
This includes completing the monthly statistical report
and documenting daily reports in the log book.
4. Perform all other related duties as required.
5. Help identify and support fundraising activities as
appropriate.
6. Report any physical facility problems to the Facilities
Manager and your supervisor immediately. Also, if facilities
manager is not available, check residents chores
and perform exit interviews according to documented policies
and procedures.
7. Go through the medicine closet every 6 months and discard
any expired medications. Let the Facilities Manager know
when items are low so that she can purchase new items.
8. Arrange for own substitutes to replace self if unable
to work scheduled time. Inform supervisor and document
as appropriate.
9. Remain on premises until the next shift arrives
even if the next shift is late or does not arrive.
Casework
1. Answer all hotline calls and process calls according
to documented policies and procedures.
2. Follow all documented client intake and exit procedures.
3. Assess all potential clients according to documented
policies and procedures.
4. Carry a specific caseload. This includes setting up
specific meetings for individual counseling sessions,
advocating, referring, goal-setting, assisting clients
in completing paperwork, etc. Complete all paperwork as
required and on time.
5. Provide crisis intervention counseling to shelter clients
and hotline callers.
6. Provide individual supportive counseling to shelter
residents.
7. Assess the status of and identify potential psychological
and/or psychiatric behaviors of shelter residents and
refer as appropriate.
8. Assess the status of, identify a need for, and coordinate
drug/alcohol evaluations for shelter residents.
9. Read logbook, all intakes, case notes, and resident
files daily.
10. Discuss any occurrences with caseworker from previous
shift and next shift on a daily basis.
11. Document all client contact (in person, via phone,
or no contact) on a case note each day. Add this information
to the clients file book and copy as appropriate.
12. Perform room checks when necessary.
Education
Provide one-on-one hotline and caseworker training for
caseworker trainees.
Community
Relations
1. Attend community and state forums as needed.
2. Interface with other agencies and network or resolve
issues.
3. Write articles for the Enlightener as needed.
4. Represent the agency and participate in speaking engagements
as needed.
5. Support agency events through your attendance as appropriate.
Minimum Qualifications:
College degree in human service field preferred, as well
as direct and administrative services experience. Forty
hours of domestic violence and forty hours of sexual assault
training to be completed in the first year of employment.
