[Training Institute] Looking Through the Shades: A Cross Cultural Response to Trauma
December 11, 2012
Looking Through the Shades: A Cross Cultural Response to Trauma
Sexual violence is endemic amongst all races, cultures and ethnicities nationally and internationally. It is critical to identify and understand the various forms and faces of sexual violence as experienced by diverse populations. Culture, context and identity are as inherently woven within a trauma survivor's experience as it is within a trauma therapist's response to the trauma survivor.
This 3-hour workshop will utilize a cross cultural perspective in examining, exploring and identifying appropriate clinical strategies in trauma response. Additionally, this workshop will focus on helping us examine our personal sense of self and identity through cross cultural lenses as well as encourage the exploration of our prejudices and biases that influence and impact our therapeutic relationships with trauma survivors.
